The Altos Ventures’ journey is one marked by resilience.

Their story starts in 1996 with GSB roots, a single LP, and a $30 million fund investing in early stage technology companies. This early support came from a group of surprising partners, an unexpected community of investors who also understood the idea of being marginalized. One of these early investors will make a special appearance and join our discussion.Today, Altos manages more than $10 billion of regulatory assets. Its portfolio includes companies that had two recent blockbuster IPOs, Roblox and Coupang, with a recent combined market capitalization of $120 billion.

What learnings can we apply from Alto’s experiences securing their early funds? What is their investment purpose and philosophy? What can the “unconnected” Asian American entrepreneur do to overcome unwarranted stereotypes and raise his/her initial seed or VC round?

This panel examines these questions and many others from a practical, on-the-ground perspective.
