Join the GSB Alumni Consulting Team for our Fall-Winter Project Round Kick-Off, open to all GSB alumni. This event will feature a pre-meeting orientation for ACT newbies, a simple yet scrumptious meal, and an interactive workshop on how to apply equity and inclusion principles to our work with nonprofits. The evening will conclude with team meetings for those engaged as volunteers in this round.

The subject of diversity, equity and inclusion is drawing increasing attention not only in the nonprofit world, but also in the investment community, executive boardrooms and public policy circles. Like most hot topics, it’s not without controversy, and in the spirit of furthering our own understanding of it, we’re offering GSB alumni the opportunity to take part in this workshop focusing on how ACT volunteers can use diversity, equity and inclusion tools to serve nonprofits more effectively.

This thought-provoking, 90-minute workshop has been designed by LeaderSpring, a former and current ACT client, whose mission is to foster a powerful, equity-driven social sector by strengthening leaders and organizations; developing communities of leaders; and transforming the systems in which they work.

Come prepared to have your assumptions challenged, your eyes opened and your skills enhanced. We will cover a lot of ground, and expect it to be both edifying and enjoyable. LeaderSpring will guide us through an analysis of equity vs. equality, a first step in cultivating an “equity lens” through which an organization can begin to audit its DEI performance. This analysis ranges from biases and attitudes to structures and systems.

Sonia Bassheva Mañjon, LeaderSpring Executive Director, and Carri Katonah, its Program Coordinator, will lead us through this fast-paced and intensive session, giving us tools to be more effective with the diversity of clients that come to ACT for help and in the wide range of environments in which we work.
