Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with Anat Admati, George G.C. Parker Professor of Finance and Economics at the Stanford GSB and author of The Bankers' New Clothes: What's Wrong With Banking and What to Do About It. Time Magazine has named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world and Foreign Policy Magazine as one of 100 global thinkers in 2014.

Building on Prof. Admati's visit to the Salon last Spring, we will explore questions such as: How can the power of corporations and the forces of capitalism be re-designed to realize the potential of free markets to drive progress? How can we ensure that corporations create true long-term benefits for all their stakeholders without causing distortions and harm in the name of "shareholder value creation"? Having enabled corporations and given them legal rights, what is our role as customers, citizens, and shareholders to hold corporations responsible and accountable to society as a whole?

We will begin with a candid talk by Prof. Admati followed by Q&A with attendees. We will then engage in an interactive debate to explore how we can each apply the evening’s ideas to drive real-world impact in the spirit of the GSB's motto to Change Lives, Change Organizations, and, in particular, Change the World.

Format
6:30 – 7:00 pm: Informal networking (dinner will be served)
