This is an overview of the Stanford GSB DC Salon Series (2016-2018). Please see links below to register for an upcoming event or learn about past events.

The Stanford GSB Salons in Washington DC are designed to foster deeper conversations among peers in an intimate setting to enlighten, educate, and explore ideas to tackle the greatest challenges of our times. Prior Salons have explored a variety of topics in diverse formats, including speaker events and interactive workshops.

This year we are introducing a new format. Each event will begin with a candid talk by an expert on the theme for the evening followed by Q&A with attendees. We will then engage in an interactive workshop to explore how we can each apply the evening’s ideas to drive real-world impact in the spirit of the GSB's motto to Change Lives, Change Organizations, and Change the World.

UPCOMING EVENT: Thurs. April 26, 2018: REGISTER HERE

RETHINKING CORPORATIONS & CAPITALISM: An Evening with GSB Professor Anat Admati

Building on Prof. Admati's visit to the Salon last Spring, we will explore questions such as: How can the power of corporations and the forces of capitalism be re-designed to realize the potential of free markets to drive progress? How can we ensure that corporations create true long-term benefits for all their stakeholders without causing distortions and harm in the name of "shareholder value creation"? Having enabled corporations and given them legal rights, what is our role as customers, citizens, and shareholders to hold corporations responsible and accountable to society as a whole?

Format:
6:30–6:45 pm: Informal networking (dinner will be served)
6:45–7:45 pm: Talk by Prof. Admati followed by Q&A
7:45–8:30 pm: Interactive workshop & discussion with Prof. Admati
8:30–9:00 pm: Informal networking

Moderators:
Each Salon is moderated by members of the GSB DC Leadership Team. Current and past moderators include: Amita Shukla, MBA '03 (2016-2018), Jim Rosenberg, MBA '96 (2018), Kelly Zafar, MBA '02 (2016-2017)
