Come to an evening gathering with fellow alumni as Professor Jeff Pfeffer — who is joining us via teleconference from the Stanford Knight Management Center — speaks on Dying for a Paycheck.

You don’t have to do a dangerous job — in a coal mine or on a construction site, commercial fishing boat, or an oil rig — to endure a health-destroying, possibly life-threatening, workplace. Every industry is filled with horror stories of overwork, poor health, and mental strain — and the cost, to both employees and their companies, is enormous.

Based off topics covered in his new book, Dying for a Paycheck, GSB Professor Jeffrey Pfeffer will explain how even as organizations allow management practices that literally sicken and sometimes kill their employees, those policies do not enhance productivity or the bottom line. Professor Pfeffer will touch on a range of important topics, including layoffs, health insurance, work-family conflict, and offer guidance and practical solutions all of us — employees, employers, and the government — can use to enhance workplace wellbeing.

The program will begin promptly at 6:00 PM with Jeff Pfeffer - it will be a virtual/interactive presentation.
